Testimonials
When I first spoke to Miranda, I explained to her that coaching me would likely be challenging as I suffer from two chronic gastrointestinal conditions that can make training and nutrition somewhat tricky. This didn't phase her at all. Throughout the season she was able to tune my training based on how I was feeling to ensure I wasn't trying to do more than my body was willing to take. An added bonus of working with Miranda is that her education enabled her to understand what I was talking about when I was having health/drug related issues without the need for me to dumb it down.
Miranda's approach to slowly introducing intensity and volume allowed me to be the best I could without being plagued by injuries that had slowed me down in the past. She was also happy to work with my chiropractor to supplement the strengthening and stretching programs that provided to help reduce injuries.
In January, I asked Miranda how she though I'd finish in my September 'A' race, and she gave me a 20 minute range. I thought that maybe the slowest end of that range was a possibility... maybe. When the September race arrived, I pretty much felt the same way, I would be lucky if I could get myself within that range. Turns out that Miranda knew me a lot better than I knew myself. I came in 4 minutes slower than the FASTEST time she projected. This ranked in my top triathlon moments, and, I definitely know I could not have done it without Miranda.
I think the best thing I can say about Miranda is despite the fact that she was in school, has a family, a complement of other athletes, and her own training to deal with, I always felt like I was her top priority. She made me feel like I was her only athlete (which couldn't have been easy to do as she was also coaching my wife) and was always available to answer questions or comment on my training.

"I have been training with Miranda since 2013 and during the 2013 and 2014 triathlon seasons I have set personal bests across all distances that I race, including Ironman and Half Ironman. Since I have started working with Miranda I have become a better swimmer, cyclist and runner, all while enjoying the training and avoiding injury and burnout. It’s as simple as that! I am seeing times in my races that I did not think possible, so she has really helped me to redefine my limits. I look forward to getting even faster and setting more PBs."

"You were a great coach this season for both Ross and I. You are very quick to respond to any changes or questions we have which is so appreciated in a coach. You set a challenging yet achievable training schedule for us that lead me to having a fabulous race at World’s and Ross at Muskoka!"

Miranda is everything I am looking for in a coach. She is motivating, encouraging, inspiring, patient, disciplined, personable, knowledgeable, passionate, experienced, realistic, and honest.
2014 was my first year training with a coach and it has been a great experience. We set goals at the beginning of the year, and Miranda prepared a challenging but achievable training plan considering my goals, fitness, commitments, available times and stresses. She kept me focused on the task of reaching my personal goals all season. I appreciated Miranda’s encouragement and guidance as I went through periods of injuries, and her honesty when re-assessing my performance throughout the year. Miranda is always quick to respond to all questions, was able to modify my training quickly if needed and was always available for consultation.
I am very happy I had the chance to work with Miranda this past season. With her coaching, I reached PBs in most of my races, and had strong races at World’s. I am looking forward to training with Miranda again this season, and to improving further and reaching new PBs!

“In the Summer of 2013, I woke up one morning and created the ambitious goal of completing my first Ironman triathlon. With zero triathlon experience, and little to no long distance endurance sport experience, I was well aware of the fact that a one day race comprised of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, and 42.2km run was not something I could take on, or learn to take on my own.
Fortunately for me, I found Miranda.
My first meeting with Miranda gave me incredible perspective and encouragement. When I explained why it was that I wanted to complete Ironman (and my timeline for completion), her first reaction was one of complete confidence – she never once doubted my goal, and suggested that if I gave myself enough time, and trained the correct way – she was fully convinced I would complete my goal. I cannot relay just how motivating this was.
What’s great about Miranda is that not only does she live the sport of triathlon, but she also understands the delicate balance between motivation and letting you live your life. Her coaching style is one that allows the athlete to train with guided autonomy, and her advice incorporates both the science of sports and mental preparation.
I would gladly recommend Miranda as a 5 star and first class triathlon coach and trainer.”

"Miranda was instrumental in helping me achieve my Ironman goals in 2014. I had signed up for IM Mont Tremblant but was starting from "scratch" as I was beset with multiple injuries in the off-season and had very little "base". Coupled with a brand new baby to help care for, my fitness can be described (in the words of another famous new father, Channing Tatum) as "FAPPY" (Fat and Happy). I was very apprehensive about getting coaching in general. I'm a motivated person. You'd have to be to sign up for one these. I thought the money could be better spent on more training gear and gadgets. I was dead wrong.
Miranda was able to get me ready for my Ironman in less than 6 months, with less time to train, and little base fitness. Her training plans were very focused, with training specificity a large component of it. She utilizes the latest in training technology, I especially like the lactate threshold testing. Nothing like getting poked with a needle in her basement, all while she keeps pressing the "up button" on the treadmill while I gasp for air. Then she uploaded my data to her computer and was able to give predicted race times and training zones...very Tony Stark'ish!!! There was no guessing with her. She kept me focused, and toned down my over zealousness to prevent further injury. If I missed a workout I didn't feel as if I was missing anything as she was able to modify my training accordingly, on the fly and within hours!! She took into consideration my time commitments and was always available for consultation with quick replies to all my questions. If I was self coaching I'd probably be injured and unable to do the race.
With her help, I finished my IM only 10 min slower than my best, on a much harder course and with a PB on the run! (my weakest discipline). I can only imagine what my results could have have been had I not been injured or had more time. This is why this sport is so addicting…despite how hard the race was and knowing how difficult it was to prepare…I still want to do another one!!!
I have to say, that most "normal" IM athletes are committing to a race juggling multiple family responsibilities. Having to cut the grass or stain the deck after doing a 180km bike ride is probably something people like Craig Alexander never have to deal with. Having a coach as effective and motivating as Miranda will definitely help those in achieving their racing goals with as minimal impact on family life as possible. My results (and intact marriage!!!) are proof of that!!!!"
